I just got a new camera in the mail today. I have needed one for years but, much like my desire for a sewing machine, have decided that buying new clothes, shoes and home accessories is much more important. I'm going to spend part of my day off today learning how to use it before we leave for Hawaii next week. I'm also going to take some before shots of the house. I say before, because I am planning on changing it up here pretty soon.
I have no idea what I want to write about today. I feel distracted. How about some pretty pictures I've had on my desktop for awhile.
I saw this on the back page of Dwell. I think it is so f-ing beautiful.
That whole top portion is mirrored in case you can't tell. How did someone think of this? It's awesome. I'm not normally a fan of ultra-modern exteriors but this is pretty incredible.
How about this?
In that house from above? Unexpected and pretty genius. Don't get me wrong, I love a mid century chair in any home. But it's always just a little bit better when it's NOT something so normal. It's ugly pretty. And what always bothers me in Dwell, although I love it too, is that the interiors, for the most part, generally look the same. Why can't you mix it up? Who says you can't have a modern home that is also cozy and rustic?
This is the bedroom you would expect to find in a house like this.
But what if you did this instead?
Darker colors. More intimate feel. Just a little different.
