Show and Tell.

+Sometimes it feels like your dreams are so close, at last, that you can just reach out and touch them. That they're real. And that they're happening.+

I have felt like that lately. It is swell. Because at the end of the day, through all of the learning and experimenting and trial and error, I really just want to be decorating homes. I thought it might be fun to share some of the things I've been working on in my spare time (ahhhaaahaha, spare time? #nosuchthing). I recently got hired at Tastemaker. Haven't heard of it yet? Don't worry, you're about to. In a big way. It's a startup based in SF that is pure genius. I actually had this idea several years ago but had no idea how to execute it, where to start and, of course, someone else had also had the idea and had begun working on it long before I could ever even get my toes wet in that pond.

Wanna know how it works? Simple. You decide you want some help decorating your living room, or your bedroom. You go to www.tastemaker.com and start filling out questionnaires, looking at pictures, deciding what you'd like to spend and basically get some direction for your project. Next, three designers present you an e-package of what they would do with your space. You pick one, you pay a flat fee, the designer designs, the corporate team buys and installs and before you know it, you've got a fab new room filled with fantastic new things. All done from the comfort of your couch. And all very very very reasonably priced. It's e-design on a large scale. For the designer, it's decorating made fun and easy. All the headaches of ordering, purchasing, installing...gone. You just get to do the fun part, which is designing. Doesn't this sound dreamy?

You really need to go have a look see. Plus they used this picture of my entryway on the home page, which makes me darn happy:

It feels pretty good to know that they want this image OF MY HOUSE to be the first visual people see when they look at the site.

If you want to hire me to do up your space directly that would, of course, make me endlessly happier. I am working with a client on their city apartment and I am loving my inspiration boards for the project.

Yes, I threw a suzani in there. Are you surprised?

I also have a potential dream client knocking on my door and I am holding my breath that it all works out. I'll just give you this, and leave it at that:

People, I was BORN for this job. Born for it.

If you've got design projects in your pipeline send me email at: therusticmodern@gmail.com and let's head down this road together. T'will be so much fun you won't be able to stand it.

  1. Congratulations! So happy for you, and for me. Because the happier you are with work and life, the more reassurance I get that your blog is not going anywhere. I love your posts about angst, disappointment, restlessness, etc, only because I can relate so much to them. But they also scare me that you might one day just quit your blog and walk away. So this is good. Really good! And if ever I need some design help I will definitely ask for you! Tastemaker is lucky to have you. Best of luck!
