My name is Heidi Caillier and I'm so happy you're here.
The Rustic Modernist was born out of boredom with my day job and an overwhelming desire to share my obsession with interior design. I was spending a great majority of my days scouring blogs and design websites and needed an inspiration board for my findings, and also for my life.
I've lived in San Francisco for the past 8 years (psst-that is the longest I have ever lived anywhere in my whole entire life). My boyfriend and I live in a one-bedroom apartment in the city, where we do all sorts of things to our house that you aren't supposed to do to a rental. Like paint. And change light fixtures.
Where did the name come from? you ask. I don't know, that's my style I guess. I find myself equally drawn to two very opposing design styles, modern and rustic. Alone, neither one does it for me. But together they make dreams come true.
Why do you also write nonsense about your life and your dog? you ask. Because it's my blog and I can do whatever I want. Plus, my dog is pretty handsome and he deserves some time in the spotlight. As we all do.
My favorite holiday is Christmas, which you will hear a lot about. Trust me.
I have a ton ton ton of education and a ton ton ton of student loan debt to go along with it. Until someone gives me one million dollars to quit my job and go finish my degree in interior design, this is my spot to do what I love.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
